Brooklyn YRs Get Into The Holiday Spirit

Brooklyn Young Republicans Pull Double Duty This Holiday Season By Conducting Successful Food & Toy Drives

This month, the Brooklyn Republican Party and the Brooklyn Young Republicans ran two joint holiday drives – a toy drive to benefit the children of Soldiers in the NY National Guard and a food drive for families in need for the Basilica of Regis Pacis in Brooklyn.

Throughout December, the Brooklyn Young Republicans have done double duty collecting non-perishable food for families in need and conducting a toy drive at the same time.  “The response to both of our drives has been fantastic,” said Diana Sepulveda, President of the Brooklyn Young Republicans.  “Both drives exceeded my expectations.”

This past week, Diana Sepulveda delivered toys to the children of Soldiers of the NY National Guard 1-258th Field Artillery Unit as part of the Brooklyn Young Republicans’ joint toy drive with the Brooklyn Republican Party.  This week, Diana Sepulveda will be dropping off the non-perishable food collected at Regina Pacis.

“Delivering those toys to so many smiling faces was a thrill I will never forget”, said Sepulveda.  “This is the season of giving, and I am glad to be able to bring some joy to those who need a little happiness this time of year.”

Brooklyn Republican Chair Craig Eaton was happy to support these initiatives.  “Diana is a true leader of our younger generation of Republicans, who have genuinely shown that they care about their community.  I am happy to support them in all they do.”

Next Meeting

Please join us for our next and final meeting of 2013.....

Wednesday, November 20th at 8:00 PM
Brooklyn GOP Headquarters
7620 17th Avenue

On this month's agenda, we will have an Election Day recap and discuss the future of our party. We will also be discussing our holiday social, the upcoming club elections and voting on the by-law amendments proposed at our October meeting.

In addition to regular business, we will be holding a toy and food drive for the holidays in partnership with The Brooklyn GOP....

We will be collecting unwrapped toys for children of soldiers of a local Army National Guard unit. With Veterans Day earlier this week, this is a great opportunity to say thank you to our Veterans by helping their families enjoy the holidays.

Also, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for a food drive being organized by Regina Pacis Basilica located on 65th Street. Please bring some items so we can help those families in need during the holidays.

Both collections, toys and food, can be brought to our meeting as well as any recording of the Brooklyn GOP Radio show on Wednesday evenings from 8pm-10pm at Brooklyn GOP HQ.

Remember our Veterans

Please take a moment today, and everyday, to remember and honor the true American heroes; those who have made sacrifices to protect us and those who continue to ensure that our country is safe and our freedoms are preserved.

"It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
- Charles M. Province

Election Day is almost here

We are in the campaign season crunch time. Candidates from city council up to mayor need our help in these final days leading up to Election Day. If you can donate any of your time, Brooklyn GOP Headquarters (7620 17th Avenue) is open daily from 1 pm to 9 pm for volunteers to make phone calls, drop literature off at homes, hand out flyers at train stations, and put up posters & lawn signs.

Also, District Attorney Charles "Joe" Hynes has asked our club for help handing out literature on Sunday to spectators as the NYC Marathon passes through Brooklyn. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Bay Ridge campaign office at 8319 3rd Avenue (84th Street and 3rd Avenue) to volunteer between 9 am and 1 pm.

Please contact bklynyrs@gmail.com if you want to volunteer for any our candidates.

Let's help get our Republican candidates elected!!!!

Congratulations to Chairman Craig Eaton and our newly elected County Executive Committee

The Brooklyn Young Republicans offer our sincere congratulations to Craig Eaton on being re-elected Kings County Republican Chairman. Chairman Eaton has led the Brooklyn GOP since 2007, and we are thrilled that he will be leading us for another two years. Under Chairman Eaton, Brooklyn has had the opportunity to be represented by two Republican Congressmen, two State Senators, and one Assemblywoman. We have ran candidates for all different levels of office, and currently have a great slate of City Council candidates in districts all over Brooklyn. We are looking forward to many more achievements and party growth under Chairman Eaton's leadership.

In addition to congratulating Chairman Eaton's re-election, we would like to extend a congratulations to the entire newly elected Executive Committee, especially former Assemblyman and founder of the Fiorello LaGuardia Republican Organization Arnaldo Ferraro, who was elected Vice Chairman.

We would also like to make note of our Young Republicans who have been elected to serve our County:

Russell Gallo - Secretary and Community Outreach Committee Vice Chairman for Veterans

Gene Berardelli, Esq - Law Committee Chairman

Matthew Fairley, Esq - Law Committee Vice Chairman for Club Activities

William O'Neil - Youth Activities Chairman and Community Outreach Committee Vice Chairman for Military Affairs
